Born and raised in Germany, a defining moment in my life was when I travelled to Australia at the age of 18. It was then I developed a desire to help people, and decided to study a Physiotherapy degree in Brisbane. After further travel and working in numerous places, I felt the need to expand my knowledge which led me to enroll in a Masters degree in England specialising in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

I have always played sports, competed in Beach-Volleyball and had a broad interest in fitness. Ideally outside in nature. I found huge satisfaction in teaching people how to move and sharing my 'happy drug' with others. Whether that means going for a walk, lifting weights or doing Pilates, I believe there is something for everyone.
​
With the growing pressure of the fitness industry and social media, it has become incredibly hard to step away and simply 'be' yourself, to discover what is good for you.
​
Over the years I have adopted a more holistic approach to health and treatments, and have found great success through this approach.
Not one size fits all. Everybody is different, with different needs.
Everybody needs to MOVE, in their own way. Everybody needs to be NOURISHED through the food they eat, and also through their thoughts and actions.
​
Coming from a competitive sporting background where a controlled and rigid diet is the norm, Rupert has taught me to really appreciate and respect food to a whole new level. To not only see it as fuel for my body or label it good or bad. I re-learned to indulge and to savour it, understanding quality and the importance of eating fresh and seasonal produce. Finding mindfulness in cooking and listening to what your body needs, discovering new tastes and flavours this is when you can let go of that guilty feeling and start to enjoy what you eat, and how it makes you feel.

Physical and mental nourishment through food and movement are essentials that I want to share with people as part of a'be' experience; in a relaxed, non-judgmental, casual and educational environment. Finding time to move but also indulge in food, push yourself but also find time to relax. Understand your body and re-discover natural balance.

YOUR PRIVATE CHEF
Born in the north west of England, currently Head Chef and Co founder of 'Be' Retreats, based between the Swiss Alps, South West France and Australia.
My Journey to get here: ​

I've been working professionally as a chef for 12 years now. My passion for cooking started in the beautiful coastal region of Cornwall, south west England. An area spoilt by superb fresh, local ingredients and artisanal producers. This was a great start to my career and where my love and respect for great food stemmed from.
​
I was eager to learn and grow as a chef, working in busy high end restaurants, however in the back of my mind I always had a vision of using my skills to explore and to create a great life. I made a promise to myself to work in the most beautiful parts of the world, cooking honest, simple, nutritious food to provide nourishment and joy to those that eat my food.
​
That promise took me to Verbier, in the Swiss Alps, and also to south west France in the heart of the Bordeaux wine region. The access to fresh local produce and the interaction with my clients in the open kitchens helped me to understand the value of eating well in a relaxed atmosphere with friends.
This led myself and Anna to begin to create the 'Be' experience, where we celebrate the beauty and simplicity in cooking well, and eating well with loved ones, to nourish the body and the mind, celebrating a closer relationship to the ingredients and producers, getting back to basics and benefitting from nature's medicine.

When we combined our passions, skills and ethos, 'Be' retreats was born. The benefits of a balanced approach to life lies at the heart of our retreats. Through Anna's help, support and advice on daily movement and body awareness, to my nutritious and delicious food, you'll find;
